This september (2020) we went on a roadtrip to Croatia. Each week we will tell you about another day and another amazing must visit stop in this beautiful country. So let’s continue with stop 4: Ostro plaza, Kraljevica, Croatia. Make sure to read stop 1: Chiemsee, Germany, stop 2: Lake Bled, Slovenia and stop 3: Rijeka, Croatia.

First of all look at the color of the water! How beautiful is this? It’s the first thing i fell in love with visiting Croatia. The seas are so calming and peaceful because there are almost no tourists and there are no big waves. Croatia has some of the best beaches to go snorkling because there are a lot of fish in the sea, the water is quite still and so unbelievably clear!
After our citytrip to Croatia which was so cultural interesting, but also a bit exhausting, we decided to drive to an island named Cres. So we could really soak up the chill island vibes.
After our amazing day in Rijeka it was quite late. We didn’t have a good internet connection. The 4G constantly turned to E in our screen which means we didn’t have a great connection. Therefor it was really difficult to search for a decent accommodation to stay in. It was also past 8pm so a lot of accommodations weren’t in the running anymore. We decided to look up a beach on google maps and spent the night in the car so we could wake up with a great view.
Just outside the city of Rijeka, we found the beach ostro plaza or ostro beach in the small town of Kraljevica. We parked in a parking spot on the road just next to the small beach. It was really dark when we arrived. There weren’t any street lights burning so we had a good night sleep.
We woke up naturally at dawn because of the sunlight peeking in the car. We opened our eyes and this was the view we saw from the car!

We could hear the sound of the water and the birds and it was so relaxing! We felt so at peace! Right away we decided to take our swimwear and snorkel gear from the back of the car and head of to the beach.
We were all alone! Just the beach and us! We changed into our swimwear and took a morning swim. There were almost no waves so that was really easy and so refreshing after spending a night in the car! After our morning swim session, we took our snorkle gear. There were still no people! Unbelievable! We snorkled for about an hour and it was amazing! There were so many different fishes to be seen! You could even see them without snorkling because the water is so clear in Croatia! It was so beautiful! There were also a lot of ‘fish schools’ so large groups of the same fishes swimming together. We managed to get some footage with our gopro.

After our swim and snorkling session we felt so alive, refreshed, at peace and close to nature. Luckily we still had a little bit of food in the car from the day before and decided to have breakfast at this beautiful spot. It was a rock beach so sitting wasn’t very comfortable. We would advice you to bring a beach chair of pillow or a lot of towels to sit on. By the time we finished breakfast, the first locals started to arrive. Some people were walking their dog, others were also taking a morning swim. We only saw about 10 people and it was still so calm and private.
We would for sure advice you to just park at a local beach when you’re on a roadtrip and take a morning swim as soon as you wake up. It’s a great way to start te day!
After our perfect morning, we drove to Cres. We will tell you all about the chill island vibes of Cres in the next article! Stay tuned!
